Week 41

Merry Christmas everyone, its coming soon. No snow for Utah this month? How can it be as warm there as it is here? ;) Not really, Christmas is different down here, no snow of course but not very many lights or decorations either. We had early transfers this week, me and Hermana Valverde stayed the same, as comps and here in Santa Maria Huatulco.
This week was a pretty hard week… with sickness, stress, and lots of walking around…. But I think I felt more like a missionary this week…
On Sunday my companion had to go to the hospital because the doctor thought that her appendix burst. But all it was really was a HUGE infection in her stomach. Real shocker there, right? All of us here have worms, parasites, bugs… so for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we stayed in the house. And it was really good because we were able to get to know each other more. We told a lot of stories about home, school, etc. this was really needed because we really haven’t had a connection yet, for the whole of last transfer we just haven’t felt close as companions should be. I was also able to get a lot of things done, like getting our records all organized again. I also learned that everyone here knows how to give a shot… one of the medicines she needed are shots so we went to a member’s house to do them… it was the strangest thing ever… but I got to play with the cutest baby in the process :) named Pahran :) sounds like a name found in the book of Mormon.
We also did A LOT of contacting this week… that’s something I’m still not that great at it… still uncomfortable with the language during contacts. But right now we are in a situation where the missionaries before us didn’t go find new investigators while teaching the one’s they had. And none of them have ever progressed. So now we’ve got to drop them (sad) and find all new ones so we have people to teach. When investigators stagnate they sore of waste our time when we should be meeting and teaching new people who might want to investigate more. It sounds harsh but it isn’t. So on Friday we went and knocked on like 50 doors and on Saturday we went to this huge city meeting and tried contacting people there and we walked into a tienda and contacted people working there… the only thing was that most of these people said no… that’s one thing I dislike… peoples agency :P but we’re going to keep trying. We saw one lady preaching on Saturday with a megaphone and speaker, yelling scriptures… it was kind of awkward, but oh well… but with all that I’m starting to feel the stress and the weight of the area on me because I’m in charge for the first time… and not only that, I’ve got my district leader on my back… he’s a big number counter and it drives me insane!! But I’m going to have respect for my leaders and not rant…
But that’s basically what happened this week. Another discouraging week physically but spiritually we are doing well :) I hope that you all are doing awesome and happy. I’m still figuring out what we’re doing for skype. It looks like because it’s such a small town that no store’s going to be pen on Christmas, but we’re going to keep looking. But if we don’t find anything or a member who had a computer, we night need to talk on the 26th when the stores are open again.
Keep reading your scriptures!!

Love Hermana Walker
